How to connect the tractor head to the trailer is a skill that every tractor driver must master. Especially for the driver who is engaged in falling and crawler transportation, attention should be paid to the details of the connection process when picking up and hanging frequently to ensure the safe completion of transportation. In fact, the connection between the tractor and the semi-trailer mainly focuses on the connection between the tractor saddle and the trailer towing pin, as well as the connection of the circuit.

1. Connection between traction saddle and traction pin

Before connection, carefully check whether there is enough grease on the tractor saddle plate and evenly apply the grease. Check whether there are other foreign matters on the semi-trailer traction pin and traction slide to ensure that the traction slide is clean, so as to reduce accidental wear after connection. Specific steps:

1. Adjust the support legs to make the semi-trailer traction slide plate match the height of the traction saddle. Generally, the semi-trailer towing skid plate is 1-3 cm lower than the center of the upper plane of the towing vehicle towing saddle. Be careful not to be too high. Otherwise, sometimes not only can't be connected, but also damage the fifth wheel, traction pin and related components. With the development of vehicle technology, heavy trucks have an ECAS (air suspension system) control system, which can adjust the height of the body through the tractor, which simplifies the steps of manually operating the height of semi trailers in the past.

2. Operate the locking mechanism of the traction seat to open the locking block and keep it in a free state.

3. When reversing the tractor, try to keep the centerline of the tractor and trailer consistent, and the offset between the centerline of the two vehicles is limited to 40mm. Align the tractor saddle with the towing pin, and then reverse slowly until you hear a "click" sound. When the locking block returns, the tractor and semi-trailer are successfully towed.

4. Check whether the traction pin is locked by the traction seat locking block and whether the locking is firm.

5. Move the tractor forward a little and check whether the connection is good.

2. Circuit connection between tractor and semi-trailer

1. Connect the two gas pipe connectors on the tractor (usually called handshaking) to the two gas pipe connectors on the semi-trailer. At this time, the air supply line of the tractor is connected to the air supply line of the semi-trailer, and the control line of the tractor is connected to the control line of the semi-trailer (pay attention to the color of the connector: install the same color, do not install it in reverse).

2. After the air connectors are connected with each other, release the disconnect switch of the air circuit of the semi-trailer on the tractor to keep it in a ventilated state. Otherwise, it will be impossible to supply air to the semi-trailer braking system and the braking system will not work.

3. Start the engine, observe the air pressure gauge in the cab, and increase the pressure in the air tank of the tractor and semi-trailer to the specified pressure.

4. Check whether the air circuit leaks and whether the braking system works normally.

5. Insert the cable connection plug of the tractor into the seven hole socket at the front of the semi-trailer until it is locked on the seven hole lock block.

6. Check whether the electrode connection is good, and confirm whether the side lamp, tail lamp and other lamps work normally.
